I want to live at the Pantone Hotel

Por Romeo Marquez | Design, English, gelattina | No Comments »

I just found out about the Pantone Hotel, a pretty cool hotel in the beautiful city of Brussels.
The Pantone Hotel is described as “hotel of colors” that will awaken your senses to an array of delights and playful surprises.

The hotel was designed by Michel Penneman and Oliver Hannaert, and everything in it is colored and beautiful.
I’d say it’s the dream hotel for every creative and designer!

Just take a look at the pictures:

Aldea.tv is here!

Por Romeo Marquez | Clientes, Design, English, Proyectos, Webdesign, gelattina | No Comments »

We recently launched Aldea.Tv the new website for Aldea, a great company based in Montreal, Canada.

Aldea provides quite an interesting service: the rental of their fiber network.
Believe it or not, Aldea has a lot to do with every one of us!
Thanks to their fiber network in many countries, we get to see many of the sports and entertainment events such as the Olympics or the World cup. Yep, it’s that important!

So the question we wanted to answer was: How can we make Fiber Optic sexy?
The idea behind the site was to produce something based on the actual contents that Aldea delivers instead of the technical stuff that behind it.

With that in mind, we created a site with an interface based on a huge map of the world.
Each section of the site represents a location where an important event is delivered by Aldea.
From The Oscars in Los Angeles to the 2012 Olympic Games in London, when you browse the site you’ll feel like you move around the world!

The site was built on HTML and JavaScript, so none of the animations require Flash, making it fully compatible with mobile devices.

Check out Aldea.Tv and let us know what you think of it!

Gelattina @ Feedback Conference

Por Romeo Marquez | Design, English, Eventos | No Comments »

I am on my way to Tampico, a nice little city 6 hours away from Monterrey.

I was invited as a guest speaker at Feedback, a 2-day event conmemorating the graphic design carrer’s 20th anniversary at Universidad del Noreste.

I hear there’s gonna be a full house and that tickets are sold out! (if that means 50 or 500, that i don’t know)

I will be speaking about interactive advertising and also i will beta test my material for an upcoming conference at Campus Party MX!

After the event a few good twitter friends and me will get together and finally meet in person, i love that!

I’ll keep you posted on how everything goes!

Design Days I – The Creative Haven

Por Carlos | Design, English, Webdesign, gelattina | No Comments »

As you enter our offices, the first thing you see to your left is our design team. As if in a creative bubble, all the girls @ design spend their days between glass walls. Tough the previous statement sounds rather constraining, in reality it’s anything but. The girls use the glass walls as a sounding board with the rest of us and as a mean of communication in very creative ways. By drawing up ideas, messages and figures, they share their ideas with those willing to give their two cents on their most recent doodles.

Upon entering the team’s “lair”, we find two parallel lines of desks, facing opposite directions, three chairs and desks in each line. A wealth of intriguing trinkets – pictures, books, stuffed animals – fill in the space between each of the girl’s places. These items make the rest of the workspaces in the office look rather sterile (though they are by no means boring!).

The charming, all girls design team is comprised right now by 4 members. The team leader, Claudia, who has tremendous experience in diverse areas of design, is like the “mother hen” of the group. Debora and Ana Laura, both with amazing design talent, are coached by Claudia, in their endeavors. They’re always given freedom to use their creativity tough, as it’s important for them to be able to imprint their own particular signature ideas onto their assigned projects.

Last but not least, we have Laura, our French intern, who activities are a mix of creative content development and business related activities. She’s from Bordeaux, and studies Communication back in France. She’s a perfectly fluent Spanish and English speaker and a very amicable girl.

Stay tuned for the second part of this installment, focusing on the work process the design team!

Over and out!
